I think that Okonwo killed himself because his fear of ending up like his father. The commisioner shows his ignorance by making assumptions on the Africans culture and some what mocking them. -Justin
I believe that Okonwo killed himself because he could not handle his emotions. Some of the factors that drove Okonkwo was anger. When Okonkwo was being whipped by thewhite men, he expressed hate in the book. He wanted a full out war. Inthe next moment, he ends up killing one of the messengers out of anger.
